Corrections and Juvenile Justice Studies (Certification and BS Online Only)

Our graduates are in high demand by local, state, federal and private agencies because it is the only program in the nation devoted to preparing students for careers in adult corrections and juvenile justice.  There are abundant opportunities for advancement in these rapidly expanding fields for those with college degrees.

Criminal Justice (BS)

Highly sought-after federal and advanced criminal justice positions require the right preparation.  Our criminal justice program offers a broad-based degree designed to provide the skills and knowledge needed for numerous careers and advanced study.

Emergency Medical Care (AS & BS)

Paramedics and EMTs are on the front-line in the ongoing effort to improve the nation's healthcare delivery system. EKU's is the only accredited paramedic education program in Kentucky and one of only a handful in the nation offering a four-year degree.  Coursework includes more than 1,000 hours of hands-on patient care delivery, system administration and management, research and study of emergency/disaster preparedness.

Fire, Arson and Explosion Investigation (BS)

This program is one of the only programs in the country dedicated to teaching valuable investigative techniques and best practices related to bombing crime scenes, terrorist incidents and arson.  It includes a broad-based study of fire science with an emphasis on the knowledge and skills needed to explore, determine and document the origin and cause of fire.

Fire Protection Administration (BS)

This degree program is designed to provide students with a background in fire science, fire prevention, and fire protection principles, as well as the administrative knowledge you'll need to be a leader in the fire services profession.  Having a bachelor's degree in this area will put you in a better position for promotions and increased salary opportunities.

Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology (BS)

This degree program provides you with a comprehensive knowledge on using fire prevention methods to protect life safety in the built environment.  The program includes courses on the design, installation, testing and maintenance of fire protection systems and structure.

Homeland Security (BS)

This degree program is designed to provide students with the fundamental knowledge necessary to protect people, information and locations from threats to their safety and security. The program will also provide students with a broad-based understanding of the emerging discipline of homeland security.

Occupational Safety (BS)

This program provides you with the opportunity to obtain a broad background in the field of occupational safety and health.  Subject areas include occupational safety in general industry and construction, hazardous materials, ergonomics, workers compensation, and assets protection.

Police Studies (AA & BS)

For those looking for quick advancement and management opportunities within police work, our police studies program has a 40-year record of success. It is the only four-year policing program in Kentucky and one of the few in the nation dedicated to professional policing.
